SenoGuard is developing an alternative to radiation therapy for women who have breast conserving surgery (lumpectomy). It is designed to avoid problems associated with radiation therapy including clinical, cosmetic, and socio-economic. This procedure is not to be confused with cryoablation of a small, solid tumor.
“Women will find a surgeon who can offer them what they want.”
Dr. Francescatti, MD, Breast Surgeon
“The majority of my patients asked if they had to have radiation therapy.”
Roberta Lee, MD, Breast Surgeon
SenoGuard was initially awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation to investigate the plausibility of applying cryoablation as an alternative to radiation following breast conserving surgery. This groundbreaking treatment is designed to reduce recurrence of future breast cancers in lieu of radiation therapy. Based upon excellent results of the study, SenoGuard was awarded a 2nd grant for $1M.
"I had partial breast RT and still lost all sexuality.” Jode, Long Beach
“I tried to avoid radiation at all costs, but got talked out of it by my doctor.”
Carrie, San Francisco
"I would have waited for SenoGuard if I could have." Susie, Minneapolis
I would like to help women facing breast cancer in the future by supporting a new procedure that would be performed by the surgeon at the time of their lumpectomy instead of radiation.
